PAF F-16 Jet Crashes Near Shakarparian in Islamabad an aircraft carrier crashed near Shikarparian in Islamabad on Wednesday morning, the Pak Air Force said in a statement. Police and rescue personnel cordoned off the scene.
Rescue efforts are underway to control the heavy ball of fire at the scene. According to sources, the plane crashed near the Chandtara jungle in the area.
The plane was conducting routine exercises for the March 23 parade, the air force said. No casualties were reported in the incident.
The PAF said that a board of inquiry has been ordered by the air headquarters to determine the cause of the accident.
Crashes were reported earlier this year
Last month a PAF trainer plane crashed near Mardan. A Mirage plane crashed near Shorkot, a city in the Jhang district of Punjab, a week ago.
According to a press release, the PAF trainer plane crashed on a routine training mission near the throne. The pilot safely evacuated the plane before it fell.
The PAF said that a week ago the fallen aircraft was used by the airline for training and crashed on a routine operational training mission. No casualties were reported in the crash, the official added.
Additionally, in January, two PAF pilots were killed after a training plane crashed near M Alam Base in Mianwali. According to the Air Force spokesman, the PAFFT-7 aircraft was “on a routine operational training mission” when the accident took place near Mianwali.
