Montgomery County Department of Recreation provides a full array of recreational, fitness and leisure services to a diverse and widespread community. The Department is seeking multiple individuals for the Recreation Assistant VI/Summer Camp Counselor VI position, to work Monday through Friday, some evenings and weekends, during the summer camp period of June 21, 2021 through August 6, 2021.
This is supervisory work managing a recreation program and abroad range of services. Supervision of paid and volunteer staff, programs, operations and facility maintenance are involved. An employee in this class provides skilled leadership in specific functions in support of facility based summer recreation programs and activities. Work requires specialized program knowledge and is performed with considerable independence under general supervision and reviewed through reports and observation of program effectiveness by career staff.
Staff may be assigned to: plan, direct and oversee program activities; perform administrative tasks such as record-keeping, plan, coordinate and schedule special events; promote and ensure participant behavior and safety; exercise tact and judgment; develop and maintain effective working relationships with participants and the community, who may be of diverse ages, cultural and ethnic groups, and socio-economic levels; perform other related duties as required.
Individuals selected for this opportunity will be required to successfully pass the criminal background investigation. This investigation will include at State, Federal and Sexual Offender background check. A child protective services background check is also required.
The hourly rate for this SEASONAL/TEMPORARY position is $15.78

Experience : 1500 hours of relevant work experience as a leader or instructor in one or more specialized recreation activities.
Education : Completion of two years of college. (60 Credits)
Equivalency : An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
License : Possession of a valid operation’s license when required for job-related duties.
